Twenty minutes from home, with free parking available and just a short flight of stairs to climb, Dad and I found ourselves in the heart of the action for The Beatle Boys’ 50th anniversary tribute. Before the curtain rose, nostalgic footage of The Beatles filled the screen, featuring John Lennon’s wry prediction that their fame might last three months, and if they were lucky, ten years. Yet, here we were, six decades later, still singing every lyric and reliving every moment.
My dad’s love for The Beatles runs deep. As their earliest albums hit the shelves, he was a teenager, growing up alongside these mop-topped lads from Liverpool. He grew up with A Hard Days Night and has many memories associated with the album. I’m a White Album/Abbey Road/Sgt Pepper kind of girl.
The Beatle Boys are among the many tribute bands that pay homage to the iconic quartet—John, Paul, George, and Ringo—who conquered the world with their music. The concert stretched over a satisfying 2 ½ hours, punctuated by a brief intermission. With such a vast repertoire to draw from, I often wondered how tribute bands select their set-lists. The Beatle Boys tackled this challenge admirably, each member getting their moment to shine with their favorite tracks.
The music was nothing short of spectacular. Every musician showcased their skill throughout the night, and the vocals were pitch perfect. I couldn’t help but tap my feet and sing along all evening long. It was a great night.
