Billy v Elton `24

Duelling Pianos

Wild Goat Entertainment declare that they have an unwavering commitment to crafting and delivering top-tier, genuine, and captivating entertainment tailored for music enthusiasts and live performance aficionados. They’re not wrong. My anticipation heightened for another spectacular show after witnessing this show in 2023.

As a fervent admirer of both Billy Joel and Elton John, having experienced their live performances in the past, I couldn’t afford to miss this one. The venue, The J in Noosa, demanded an 80km round trip for Dad and me, yet the promise of a memorable evening and front row seats guaranteed a worthwhile journey.

The J, though compact, offered an excellent view from every seat, ensuring an intimate experience for all attendees. The stage was set, with Michael Hynes and Luke Kingston embodying our musical heroes while igniting the anticipation for a musical showdown.

Choosing from a staggering selection of over 80 Top 40 hits posed a challenge for the performers, yet the execution was flawless. From a captivating start to the exhilarating conclusion with ‘Piano Man’’ every track held its own. If I had to choose a favourite, it is one described as “memory 101” by our artists as they recall every line of “We didn’t start the Fire” without faltering. (If you know, you know!)

The musicality of the concert was nothing short of phenomenal. The impeccable sound, the versatility of the entire band, showcasing proficiency in various instruments and vocals, added layers of richness to the performance.

Michael and Luke, in their roles as Elton and Billy, respectively, not only matched their vocal prowess with their piano skills but also injected a high energy level that resonated with the audience. A remarkable medley further highlighted the vast repertoire of both artists.

The concert spanned almost three hours, from 1930 to 2220, with a brief intermission, delivering an incredible entertainment value that left the audience enthralled. As people danced in the aisles, it became evident that we had been part of an evening of extraordinary talent, impeccable sound, and sheer joy—a concert that exceeded all expectations.
