Sir Billy Connolly.
National Treasure.
Big Yin.
Comedic Genius.
Windswept and Interesting.
Oh my god, I just loved this book. I’ve read all that has been previously written about Billy Connolly but this is top of the heap. What makes this book so damn special, is that it is from the heart. Dictated into a worn out blackberry. I didn’t feel that I was reading a book. I felt like I was having a conversation with Sir Billy. ( and boy would I love to interview him!)
It was old tales told with a new spin. Situations explained, particularly about his deafness. I remember leaving the flood benefit concert in Brisbane 2011 that he did, thinking that he was forgetful, not managing it anymore. Turns out he couldn’t hear! I learned something.
I would have read this in one sitting but one thing stopped me, well two. I was laughing so hard that tears were falling. I was laughing so hard at it all.
Sir Billy, the writing is superb. Every word I read, I could hear your voice in my head!
Your wit, humour and candour is a blessing to the world and I am so pleased that on two occasions I got to sit in the audience of a show.
Thanks for the memories.
